hunger games!!!!
First thing you need to understand is that i'm pretty critical when it comes to movies. Sometimes. Nah, most of the time. Having worked in the entertainment industry for FOREVER- I don't know, I guess i'm impressed with the things most people don't notice, or unimpressed with the things that people tend to love. lol
Everytime I saw the Hunger Games trailer, I was so. freaking. excited! I actually thought to myself, "omg, the movie might actually be better than the book!" And I really did think that. Because the trailer looked SO EXCITING! And EVENTFUL! And awesome!!!!!
But in all honesty... I thought it was really s l o w.
Listen, I know how hard it is to adapt a book to the big screen and still make sure that people who didn't read the book understand the movie. And those who did read the book, still enjoy it. I also know that there is no possible way to put every single aspect of any book into a movie because it just doesn't work that way. We can't always translate the things we write onto paper into movie form.
With that said- I just thought that the whole time until we got to the Games themselves was rather uneventful. Don't get me wrong- the beginning was fantastic, with fantastic acting (great casting by the way), great costume design and incredible set design.
Basically, I found myself waiting (LONGING) for the games to start so I could finally have some action. Because I remember feeling like that book had a lot of action- a lot of intensity- a lot of stuff going on... but once the games started... I don't know... it just lacked.
The intensity wasn't there. It would get intense for brief moments and then cut away completely and allow us to catch our breath and relax. Too much so, for my taste. I felt like that Games in the book was pretty scary almost the whole time, you know?
And I had completely forgotten that the freaky beast creatures were the dead tributes- and they didn't put that in at all. I mean, the freaky beast creatures were in there, but not the eyes, not the reference to WHO they were supposed to be. That definitely should have been in there somehow.
Overall- all the movie did for me- was reinforce the fact that the book is SO! MUCH! BETTER (and I wasn't even crazy, head over heels in love with the book)! But the book is developed really well... with characters you root for and against... with scenes you can envision and picture in your mind... with intensity and emotions that sometimes only well written words can do.
:)
Have a great weekend everyone!

what new tv shows are you loving?
what are you watching this season that you're loving?
for me, on monday nights, i've completely fallen for hart of dixie! i loved this show from the get go! i've missed rachel bilson and i <3 my girl, jaime king... i think the show is really cute, sweet, with likeable characters. i sort of want to live there. we NEED a show like this- a show that reminds us about community, family, eating good food and tradition. it makes me smile. :)
i also am really liking the secret circle (right after my MOST FAVORITE SHOW IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD RIGHT NOW, the vampire diaries on thursday nights) because it's about witches and spells and magic! and did you know i'm writing a witch series? i started thinking that i didn't want to watch this show because the first episode was EERILY similiar to how my book starts, but after watching it more, we're not on the same path. lol so i like it! it's fun, although the opening music terrifies the hell out of me!
revenge on wednesday's is the bomb. even though i find it COMPLETELY predictable at times, i still find it RIDICULOUSLY enjoyable. i think it's unlike any other show i've seen before. i like the premise and i love the outlandish characters. it's entertaining and i'm hooked!
last but not least, i'm in love with once upon a time on sunday nights. i don't know what exactly it is about this show, but i freaking A-D-O-R-E it! i think it is SO creative, clever and puts a twist on every single fairy tale we've ever known or heard of. it's brilliant. i love it. i have no idea how or where it's going to go, but i'm excited to follow!
so yeah! those are my shows!!! what are you watching and loving? i wanna know! :)

breaking dawn pt 1
um... i sort of feel about this one the way i felt about the first harry potter movie. i mean, the first half of the last hp movie.
i was sort of bored with this movie. don't get me wrong, the wedding scene was stunning! gorgeous! beautiful! and in all honesty, i LOVED how the characters laughed, smiled and genuinely had more fun in this movie than they have in all 3 other movies combined.
i think we've gone full past movies without a single smile from edward or bella. who wants to see frowny faces all the time? not me.
so yeah-i love that they are finally happy (for the most part). and i really love how all of them are together in this movie- the whole cullen clan plus the wolfies. it's nice to have everyone around all the time. it was romantic and sweet.
but yeah.
the wedding scene was a little long.
and the honeymoon scene was way too long.
i think they could have put the whole book into one movie. they definitely could have condensed this entire movie down into the necessary parts required to lead into the finale.
but they didn't.
of course.
cause if you were making the kind of money these movies were, would you? no, i didn't think so. i'd probably be like, LET'S MAKE EACH CHAPTER ITS OWN MOVIE! ha
thankfully, the actors have come a long way. their acting flows better and they're all clearly comfortable with one another. it shows. i did miss the humor that emmitt normally has. but the edward and jacob scenes were nice. and little wolfie seth was awesome. they did the bella starving scenes grotesquely well. her body was horrifying. *shudder*
so yeah. now i can't wait for the 2nd movie because it's going to be all the action and all the good stuff (just like the 2nd harry potter).
and the fact that we all have to wait an entire year for it, when it's already done- it just annoying. lol

oprah's final show
i'll admit it.. i LIKE oprah. :)
so i watched her very final show yesterday.. not having any idea what it was going to be about, who was going to be on it, etc.
to my surprise, there were no guests.
just oprah. talking. thanking. being grateful.
but what i took from her show- was what i've been talking about for awhile now here on this blog. and a lot of what i've reading lately in terms of spiritual websites.
this huge shift in consciousness. this shift in people's priorities. this calling that is happening to get people to be where they are supposed to be (hence, dramatic events happening- loss of house, loss of job, divorce, etc)....
when she spoke the following words, i found myself sitting on my couch shaking my head back and forth in a YES!!!! motion, just completely agreeing and yelling at my tv, "THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT OPRAH!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SAY!!!"
"What I knew for sure from this experience with you is that we are all called. Everybody has a calling, and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it. Every time we have seen a person on this stage who is a success in their life, they spoke of the job, and they spoke of the juice that they receive from doing what they knew they were meant to be doing.... Because that is what a calling is. It lights you up and it lets you know that you are exactly where you're supposed to be, doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing. And that is what I want for all of you and hope that you will take from this show. To live from the heart of yourself. You have to make a living; I understand that. But you also have to know what sparks the light in you so that you, in your own way, can illuminate the world."
just reading that (especially the last sentence) brings tears to my fucking eyes. it fills me with hope. it RESONATES. that's exactly where i am right now. and where i have been. and what i've been trying to figure out... and CREATE.
i feel like we're all being called to do what truly makes us happy. and by doing what makes us happy, we will affect the world. by sharing what we love with others, it will uplift those around us. goodness and positivity ALL AROUND! :)
you may think i'm crazy.. or not get what i'm saying. and that's okay. i just feel excited. and happy. and sort of impatient because i'm so ready to embody my awesomeness and have it feel right... i'm ready to FEEL like i'm on the right path again- like i'm doing what i'm supposed to be doing... like i'm where i'm supposed to be... like everything in falling into place. that feeling you get when you just instinctively know things are unfolding how they are supposed too. i'm ready for all of that.
for me.
and for you.
"My great wish for all of you who have allowed me to honor my calling through this show is that you carry whatever you're supposed to be doing, carry that forward and don't waste any more time. Start embracing the life that is calling you and use your life to serve the world."

harry.potter.
WARNING- SPOILERS AHEAD
i was beyond thrilled to see this movie. beyond thrilled. i even convinced boyfriend to go during opening weekend and tolerate the whispering and annoyances of constantly chatting teenage girls (who i eventually had to turn around and tell to shut the hell up).
so, the movie. i don't know. it was kind of.... boring? i was kind of bored. i mean, i'm not used to a harry potter movie with very little action, and that's what that one was. also, it's not as much fun if they aren't at hogwarts. it's weird seeing all those characters in "normal" places like the beach and sitting in sand with tall grass blowing around them. it's like my brain can't process that this is a harry potter movie or something. i seriously wonder how necessary this was to have that be an entire movie all on its own. couldn't we have fit all of that information into 45 minutes and then tacked it onto the last movie? a three hour movie isn't unheard of these days, so what the hell? how much of that drawn out, let's sit in a tent some more, was needed?
i feel like a lot of things were explained, but still.. not a lot happened. and what was up with the super emotional burial of dobie... but the completely looked over, and barely mentioned death of mad eye moody? in the opening fight scenes in the sky, why didn't we see more? why weren't we shown how he died? they only briefly mentioned it (which i didn't even understand WHO they said died for the first three times they said it) and then just moved along. i thought that kind of sucked. i would have liked to have seen the fight scene, or whatever it was that killed him. and then had people actually care, or be upset that he was killed. sure it was sad that dobie died, but i haven't seen that character in so long, i kind of cared less.
another thing? harry potter isn't as fun when it's just the three characters the whole time. in all honesty, they aren't that entertaining all by themselves (although there was good humor and ron is awesome). i missed neville... and everyone else. it's more fun when it's a group of them... and um, what the hell was up with the freaking harry/hermoime porn kissing scene?? jesus. talk about uncomfortable. why did they have to be naked when they were fake making out?!?! ew.
also... i feel like scenes that were shown in the movie trailer, didn't even happen in this movie. or am i totally wrong?
so yeah. i'm still excited for the next movie, but mostly because it's supposed to be action the whole time. which clearly, i need.
did you love the movie? would i love it more had i read the books?

i can't believe i'm actually saying this about one of the twilight movies
this one didn't suck as bad as the other two!!!!!!!!!!
and i'm not kidding! i mean.. normally, the girls and i are in the theatre laughing because the acting is SO hard to watch... and the makeup is SO ridiculous looking.. and bella is SO annoyingly whiny (among other things).
but at last nights midnight eclipse viewing.... THERE WAS NO MAKING FUN OF LAUGHTER DURING THE MOVIE!!!!! i don't think at all. (okay maybe a little at times cause sometimes the acting.. ugh)
i really have to say that this movie was better than all the other movies in almost every way possible. from the moment the movie started, i wasn't sure if we were watching a preview for a new movie coming out, or if our movie had started. and after that scene completed, i already felt like i was watching a whole new series. i turned to my gf sandi and said "um.. that single scene was just better than both the other movies put together."
in all honesty, i think we have the director of this movie to thank. so david slade, whoever the hell you are, THANK YOU. you made this movie watchable. you made it enjoyable. and you made it better than the other two in every way possible.
the makeup on the vampires was a thousand times better than the other ones. they didn't look like freaks in clown makeup. rosalie actually LOOKED like the gorgeous girl she's supposed to be. her hair looked so much better (and those of you who read the books and watched the other 2 movies know what i'm talking about here) in this movie.. more natural. the acting was bearable to watch. there were really good scenes where the actors got to really use their acting ability and it didn't make me want to stab them! this is progress people!!! the way the movie was shot and directed flowed better... it felt better... everything worked and went well together. all the characters got to be more than just background characters- and it made the entire movie more interesting.
now this isn't going to win any academy awards or anything. all i'm saying is that this one made me feel like we were watching an entirely new movie, with actors who flowed more naturally, acted better, and simply WORKED this time around. it made me wish we could go back to the first one and start over- because i feel like this movie has made such a huge difference. this movie felt like a "real" movie... where the other ones felt like (as my gf sandi put it) student films.
so yeah.
i'm excited.
cause this one totally didn't suck as bad as the other 2. and well, that's excitable!!!!! that and the fact that we made new friends in line!!!! HI DRIA! HI JAMES! HI LATANYA!!!! (i have also now named my booty latanya. you're welcome)

it's so easy to fall in love
after we were done, we wanted to go dancing. but everywhere was freaking dead. i mean, NO ONE was out. there is this old theatre that has concerts all the time and there was a concert last night. so someone mentioned that we should see how much the tickets were and go watch. after i finagled the tickets to a ridiculous price, we headed in.
none of us had ever heard of brandi carlile before. but i'll tell you something... none of us will ever forget her. holy freaking shit... this chick was amazing. her voice was so strong and powerful- her band was awesome and adorable- and it was great freaking music. i don't know if it was seeing her live... hearing her live.. or what. i guess her music is bluegrass.. or folk.. ?? i'm not sure what category it would fall in, but it was amazing. and all of us freaking loved it.
i might have told the adorable cd selling chick that if the 2 guys who played the fiddle and the cello were for sale, i'd like to purchase them and put them in a corner in my room so they could play me to sleep each night and wake me up every morning. then she told me SHE GETS THAT cause she's on the tour bus with them. HA.. jealous!
but THAT my friends, is what i call living. doing something you wouldn't normally do on a thursday night. paying money to see a band you've never heard of before... and then loving said band!!!! seeing a great show, with great music, great instruments now not only do they have a new fan, but now i have new music to listen too. and a new style of music. and something i wouldn't have normally found out about because i don't think she gets radio airplay or anything like that.
i love everything about that.
and now i have to share her with the world.
world, meet brandi carlile and her band.
this was one of my favorite songs from last night by far...
it's called WHAT CAN I SAY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxxMHFIxCP4
i don't know.. it's just exciting and fun to find new things.. meet new people.. discover new sounds... new anything- anything that is a break from the boring ole norm. you know?!

britney airbrushing pics
first of all.. check out the pics i'm posting below.
then, let's discuss.
seriously.
the saddest part? i guarantee that if candy's had used the unairbrushed version of britney's picture, douchebags like perez hilton and other assholes would be circling her "cellulite" and her "imperfections" and making fun of them... as if they don't have imperfections themselves. as if they could ever look that good naturally.
i'm convinced it will never end. ever.
it's a sickness and we, as a society, perpetuate every ounce of it.
i for one, think britney's un-airbrushed body is fucking amazing and i wish i looked that good. i'd take her body any day of the week. it's too bad the rest of us wouldn't.

dear heidi montag

when the media started talking about you again recently, the first thing i thought to myself was, "oh my gosh, i haven't heard her name in so long."
and i had completely forgotten all about you and that husband of yours.
and in all honesty, it was nice.
i would tell you that i want to speak to you woman but woman, but after reading that article in people magazine, it became clear to me that you are a ridiculously insecure little girl. so i really can't relate. the thing that bothered me so much about everything you said was your emphasis on wanting to be a pop star. and how you are in this industry, so you "have" to do stuff like this to succeed.
but i call your bullshit.
last time i checked, no matter how much plastic surgery you buy yourself, it doesn't give you any talent. you can't be a successful pop star if your singing sucks. maybe you should have invested in vocal lessons, instead of tits. do they have brain implants? you should look into it..
and i'm sorry, but look around. what the fuck industry are you trying to succeed in exactly? cause all you look like to me now is someone fit to be fucked.
i don't see many pop stars who look the way you do. can you even smile anymore? does your face work, or is it broken? it's sad to me that you claim you had to do all of this superficial bullshit to be a success. it's even more sad that THAT exact message is what you're telling all the young girls out there who want to be pop stars, or want to act, or want to make it in hollywood someday.
you just told them that what they look like isn't good enough. you basically said it didn't matter how talented they were, if they didn't look a certain way they could never be successful. that they all have to look like playboy models and porn stars. how original. you sure stand out in LA now, don't ya? must be awesome to look just like everyone else. i can see it now.. the next playboy mansion party.. and no one will be able to tell you apart from all the other girls.
you wake up now and love your body and your face, but you still have no talent and no one wants to buy or hear your "music." you aren't selling millions of albums, or selling out concerts or doing any of the things you claimed you wanted all the plastic surgery for in the first place
in all honesty heidi, it's mostly just sad. sad that you are this young and this obsessed with changing the way you look. you're on your way to being that cat lady person. your eyes already remind me of her. i hope you stop before you get to that point. you think people make fun of you now.... shit, imagine if you were cat lady #2!! also, it kind of freaks me out that your face now looks about 35 years old. how to look 10 years older overnight! the new craze!!
i feel bad for your parents. they must be so sad and so heartbroken to hear you hate yourself so much. i know you'll say you don't hate yourself and you're still the same person inside... but honey, it's obvious that your insides are all sorts of fucked up.
cause this behavior of yours? it's not normal. i know you think it is, but it's really, really not. and i hope you wise up and truly see the beauty in yourself before it's too late... remember, cat lady #twooooooo

aaand my day yesterday was a little crazy
even worse? traveling while you're sick. even though my flights were super quick, it still sucks to fly at all when you don't feel well.
have i mentioned it's flipping cold in this state? oh yeah, i have. here was my view from the plane- almost in so cal!
brrr, it's cold down there!

anyway, so i'm feeling terrible and i'm at the studio and of course.. when i feel and look like complete shit, i get to see and meet all sorts of awesome people.

(do you have kids? if so, ask them who he is. if not, watch hannah montana- hee). yes, i realize i just said awesome and mitchel musso in the same sentence.. but hear me out! he was super, super nice.. totally friendly, super chatty.. and just a really, really cool guy. he WAS awesome, so there! i guess i like to give props because people (especially younger talent who have been in the public eye for so long) aren't always so friendly and nice. hell, no one has to be friendly and nice to a stranger... but he totally was. and not just kind of nice, he was like ridiculously awesomely nice. so yeah. he sort of rules. :)
but to top that (sorry mitchel, but... come on!!!!!) i got to see THIS GUY from the hangover movie!
if you haven't seen the movie then 1- WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?? and 2- this won't make any sense to you (*cough*CAT*cough*)
he walked past me and i said "i loved the pictures of you in the elevator" and he stopped dead in his tracks. turned his head super quick. looked at me. got confused for about 2 seconds then he goes "HAHHA! i've never heard it said like that before! that was funny!!" and he cracked up and walked out the door.
i'm awesome.
but still sick.
which is all sorts of UNawesome.

new moon madness (in pictures)

it's not like we were the only freaks wanting to do this- hence, the FULL notes next to all the midnight showings.

and you know... the hordes of people waiting in line.

even david archuletta was there. but he didn't sing.

there were girls with homemade t-shirts. yes, i took pictures of underage strange girls. i totally felt like a child molestor asking them if i could take their picture, but LOOK at their shirts!!! SO cute and the girls freaking loved it! they were like "YEAH YOU CAN!!!!!" and started posing and stuff. so see, as long as they're willing, it's all okay. heh.

can i just mention though how many "team jacob" shirts there were this time compared to last year? it's like everyone just jumped edward's ship because the stupid wolf gained 30 pounds in muscle. listen, i appreciate what the kid has done to his abs, but that doesn't mean i'm on team jacob.
hardly.
and this always pissed me off about the books too (you know, while i'm on the subject)... you can't try and make this into some insanely soulful, time doesn't matter, i've waited for you for 108 years, intense love story- and then have her just love someone else too. that shit doesn't work!!!!! either that stupid bella loves edward in a way that CAN NOT COMPARE TO ANY OTHER LOVE, or she doesn't. she can't have both. you don't love someone with the fire of a thousand suns, only to be like "well i love jacob too" the next day. it's either true fucking deep love, or it's not. stupid stephanie meyer. i hate you.
moving on.
good lord.
*breathes*
julie brought in these cupcakes for us to munch in while we were waiting for HOURS before the movie started. aren't they pretty?

then this guy was like "YOU CAN'T BRING THOSE IN!!!!" all pissy and yelling at us like we were 12. we could have been that fucker's mom. i mean, if we were dirty sluts when we were 11 or something, but still. he was slightly stressed- i mean, look how fast he's walking! maybe he's part vampire with anger issues?

we talked and possibly chuckled at someone dressed from head to toe in pink. someone may have forced me to take a picture of her, but i refuse to put it up here... cause... it's mean. and she's young. and what if she found this blog with this picture of her on it and i was making fun of her? i mean, really? i just look like the total bitch. which apparently i am. but i won't put her pic up.
not putting up the pic of the pink energizer bunny girl.
won't do it.
did i mention she had pink hair too?
no? well, she did.
the end.
no really.
i have no more pictures.
so that's it.
story is over.
thanks for coming.

jacob. you know the one.
it's possible that when jacob ripped his shirt off in new moon, that i might have yelled "TAKE IT ALL OFF" in a theatre full of screaming girls, in between my laughter.Friday, November 20, 2009
did i like new moon?
Wednesday, November 18, 2009
i'm trying to read new moon again
but the thing is?
it's REALLY pissing me off.
making these books into a movie has really fucked with my head. i have no idea WHO edward and bella were in my mind when i read the books the first time... but they sure as shit were not kristen "i hate my life. why is being a celebrity SO hard!!! i never smile because i'm not happy. what the hell do i have to be happy about?? would YOU be happy if you were me?" stewart, or robert "thank god for my teeth, cause even though they're all fucked up, they're about the only thing that's hot on me.. well them and my unwashed, unkept hair" pattinson.
but now.
nowwwwwwwwww
i am TRYING to read this book.
and i am trying to read it the same way i read it before there were casting decisions made and those people were put on the big screen.
and.i.can't.
all i keep seeing in my mind when i read the lines, or imagine the scene, are kristen and robert. i see THEIR edward. and THEIR bella.
and it's kind of ruining everything.
**disclaimer- the edward casting doesn't bother me nearly as much as the bella casting. i think it's because she seems so unlikeable as a person. and even though bella is a whiney and annoying character in the book, kristen really brings it to life by being the same way. so while it may be brilliant casting, it's also stupid because aren't you supposed to LIKE the main character and not wish death upon her in every scene? please don't get me started on her voice or the way in which she speaks. *shoves hot pokers in ears* and yes, i'll feel like a bitch when our paths inevitably cross (because that shit always happens to me) and then i'll write some post taking it all back and i'll understand why she is the way she is. and i'll like her a lot in person and i will have been wrong. and sometimes i'm really judgemental because it's easy to judge and talk shit about people you don't know, and think you'll never know.. or run into. but really, I SHOULD KNOW BETTER! because i do end up running into these people, or having mutual friends, or working with them, etc. but does it stop me? obviously not. fuck. kristen, i'm sorry. let's be friends. end disclaimer**

and so it begins...
new moon.
i am so freaking excited! i think it looks better than twilight, and we all know how craptastic i thought that one was. i.can't.wait. CAN'T WAIT! i'm going to read the book again before the movie so i can remember everything. i remember that i hauled ass through new moon because it hurt so bad. i couldn't take the pain of edward being gone, so i knew if i got to the end of the book, he'd be back eventually. i couldn't drag that shit out.. i couldn't take it. HA.
can we please just acknowledge the fact that even though in the books i am totally team edward, jacob is looking a-freaking-mazing in this movie. i might jump ship. do you think he has his shirt off the whole movie?? although i'd much rather be on team edwacob and let bella just die. i kind of hate her.
anyway. we're all abuzz here at work and we're so excited for the midnight screening and well... this is what happens i guess... when you're crazy?? or obsessed?? or um.. a girl??

glammed.up.
ladies and gentleman... there is such a thing as too dark. welcome to the over the top, beyond smokey (what the hell IS beyond smokey anyway?) eye.

shutup. i know you can't see it well. it's terrible bathroom lighting, with a freaking camera phone. what do you want from me people?!?!? real portraits? well i might have done a photo shoot that day for fun. and you might see some of the pics, if they're hot enough. then again, it's still my face, just with a ridiculous amount of makeup and really pretty hair.
it was fun though. and what did i learn? i learned that if i really was a model, i'd be a bitch. at least for a little while until i got my ego in check. cause yesterday? i was totally in love with myself. i was all up in my own shit. it's a good thing i'm not famous (yet) cause i'd totally go hollywood on all of you.

i think i have a crush... or something
i am? sweet. i hate competition.
now while i like the mac guy too cause he is funny and reminds me justin long (omg is he justin long?? that would be embarrassing)... he isn't as loveable as the pc guy!!
he cracks me up.. and i think he is so smooshy and sweet and funny.... like eeyore (yes from winnie the pooh). omg that is why i love him.... he is like eeyore without a real tail and kinda mopey but you love him so much and want him in your backyard and stuff.
so pc guy... if you're out there.. i totally love you and want you to come over and read a computer manual to me or something cause your adorableness is too much.
reall? is it just me?
