it's been enough time for us to decide what new tv shows we love! and what ones we think suck! ha!
what are you watching this season that you're loving?
for me, on monday nights, i've completely fallen for hart of dixie! i loved this show from the get go! i've missed rachel bilson and i <3 my girl, jaime king... i think the show is really cute, sweet, with likeable characters. i sort of want to live there. we NEED a show like this- a show that reminds us about community, family, eating good food and tradition. it makes me smile. :)
i also am really liking the secret circle (right after my MOST FAVORITE SHOW IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD RIGHT NOW, the vampire diaries on thursday nights) because it's about witches and spells and magic! and did you know i'm writing a witch series? i started thinking that i didn't want to watch this show because the first episode was EERILY similiar to how my book starts, but after watching it more, we're not on the same path. lol so i like it! it's fun, although the opening music terrifies the hell out of me!
revenge on wednesday's is the bomb. even though i find it COMPLETELY predictable at times, i still find it RIDICULOUSLY enjoyable. i think it's unlike any other show i've seen before. i like the premise and i love the outlandish characters. it's entertaining and i'm hooked!
last but not least, i'm in love with once upon a time on sunday nights. i don't know what exactly it is about this show, but i freaking A-D-O-R-E it! i think it is SO creative, clever and puts a twist on every single fairy tale we've ever known or heard of. it's brilliant. i love it. i have no idea how or where it's going to go, but i'm excited to follow!
so yeah! those are my shows!!! what are you watching and loving? i wanna know! :)

oprah's final show
i don't want oprah a lot.. probably because i was always working while she was on. but whenever i did watch her show, i liked it.
i'll admit it.. i LIKE oprah. :)
so i watched her very final show yesterday.. not having any idea what it was going to be about, who was going to be on it, etc.
to my surprise, there were no guests.
just oprah. talking. thanking. being grateful.
but what i took from her show- was what i've been talking about for awhile now here on this blog. and a lot of what i've reading lately in terms of spiritual websites.
this huge shift in consciousness. this shift in people's priorities. this calling that is happening to get people to be where they are supposed to be (hence, dramatic events happening- loss of house, loss of job, divorce, etc)....
when she spoke the following words, i found myself sitting on my couch shaking my head back and forth in a YES!!!! motion, just completely agreeing and yelling at my tv, "THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT OPRAH!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SAY!!!"
"What I knew for sure from this experience with you is that we are all called. Everybody has a calling, and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it. Every time we have seen a person on this stage who is a success in their life, they spoke of the job, and they spoke of the juice that they receive from doing what they knew they were meant to be doing.... Because that is what a calling is. It lights you up and it lets you know that you are exactly where you're supposed to be, doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing. And that is what I want for all of you and hope that you will take from this show. To live from the heart of yourself. You have to make a living; I understand that. But you also have to know what sparks the light in you so that you, in your own way, can illuminate the world."
just reading that (especially the last sentence) brings tears to my fucking eyes. it fills me with hope. it RESONATES. that's exactly where i am right now. and where i have been. and what i've been trying to figure out... and CREATE.
i feel like we're all being called to do what truly makes us happy. and by doing what makes us happy, we will affect the world. by sharing what we love with others, it will uplift those around us. goodness and positivity ALL AROUND! :)
you may think i'm crazy.. or not get what i'm saying. and that's okay. i just feel excited. and happy. and sort of impatient because i'm so ready to embody my awesomeness and have it feel right... i'm ready to FEEL like i'm on the right path again- like i'm doing what i'm supposed to be doing... like i'm where i'm supposed to be... like everything in falling into place. that feeling you get when you just instinctively know things are unfolding how they are supposed too. i'm ready for all of that.
for me.
and for you.
"My great wish for all of you who have allowed me to honor my calling through this show is that you carry whatever you're supposed to be doing, carry that forward and don't waste any more time. Start embracing the life that is calling you and use your life to serve the world."

my tv watching update
so lost is back on! and um... i'm kind of bored with it.
anyone else?
i mean, i've invested so much of my time and life on this damn show- and now that it's back on for the FINAL SEASON and we're supposed to get all of answers and dreams come true and everyone who watches gets free passes to disneyland for a year... i'm um... well... i kind of don't give a shit.
i've watched the last 2 episodes and i found myself simply not caring.
maybe i'm past the point of really giving a crap about these characters and their lives on or off the island.
kill em all and just be done with it.
am i the only one still watching vampire diaries? or did none of you ever start?! i freaking love this show. it started off SO slow and just as i was about to kill my dvr, it got awesome. and now i genuinely like it. a lot. last nights episode.. i didn't see it coming. and i feel bad for damon. not bad enough that i would let him suck the blood out of me or anything... just bad.
i have started watching friday night lights. at the insistance of 2 friends who WOULD NOT LET UP UNTIL I STARTED WATCHING THE SHOW, i'm on disc 5 of season 1. it's pretty awesome. this show rocks in all sorts of ways. it's heavy though, so sitting down and watching like 6 episodes in one sitting is a bit much. and i feel like i need to run through rainbows and ride unicorns or something to feel a little lighter. but really.. great show.
is gossip girl ever coming back on?!?!?
i have about 5 episodes of grey's anatomy dvr'ed and no desire to start watching them.
awesome.
i think that's it. WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?!?!

dear heidi montag
i'm going to start with a picture of you in case some people don't know who you are (which would be awesome). and also because it's the whole damn point of this post.

when the media started talking about you again recently, the first thing i thought to myself was, "oh my gosh, i haven't heard her name in so long."

when the media started talking about you again recently, the first thing i thought to myself was, "oh my gosh, i haven't heard her name in so long."
and i had completely forgotten all about you and that husband of yours.
and in all honesty, it was nice.
a world where your antics and ridiculous statements (which are totally just to get people talking about you, i know) were gone.. was quite blissful. don't get me wrong, i realize i'm feeding the speidi train by even talking about you right now, but this will most likely be my last post about you ever.
i would tell you that i want to speak to you woman but woman, but after reading that article in people magazine, it became clear to me that you are a ridiculously insecure little girl. so i really can't relate. the thing that bothered me so much about everything you said was your emphasis on wanting to be a pop star. and how you are in this industry, so you "have" to do stuff like this to succeed.
but i call your bullshit.
last time i checked, no matter how much plastic surgery you buy yourself, it doesn't give you any talent. you can't be a successful pop star if your singing sucks. maybe you should have invested in vocal lessons, instead of tits. do they have brain implants? you should look into it..
and i'm sorry, but look around. what the fuck industry are you trying to succeed in exactly? cause all you look like to me now is someone fit to be fucked.
i don't see many pop stars who look the way you do. can you even smile anymore? does your face work, or is it broken? it's sad to me that you claim you had to do all of this superficial bullshit to be a success. it's even more sad that THAT exact message is what you're telling all the young girls out there who want to be pop stars, or want to act, or want to make it in hollywood someday.
you just told them that what they look like isn't good enough. you basically said it didn't matter how talented they were, if they didn't look a certain way they could never be successful. that they all have to look like playboy models and porn stars. how original. you sure stand out in LA now, don't ya? must be awesome to look just like everyone else. i can see it now.. the next playboy mansion party.. and no one will be able to tell you apart from all the other girls.
you wake up now and love your body and your face, but you still have no talent and no one wants to buy or hear your "music." you aren't selling millions of albums, or selling out concerts or doing any of the things you claimed you wanted all the plastic surgery for in the first place
in all honesty heidi, it's mostly just sad. sad that you are this young and this obsessed with changing the way you look. you're on your way to being that cat lady person. your eyes already remind me of her. i hope you stop before you get to that point. you think people make fun of you now.... shit, imagine if you were cat lady #2!! also, it kind of freaks me out that your face now looks about 35 years old. how to look 10 years older overnight! the new craze!!
i feel bad for your parents. they must be so sad and so heartbroken to hear you hate yourself so much. i know you'll say you don't hate yourself and you're still the same person inside... but honey, it's obvious that your insides are all sorts of fucked up.
cause this behavior of yours? it's not normal. i know you think it is, but it's really, really not. and i hope you wise up and truly see the beauty in yourself before it's too late... remember, cat lady #twooooooo

i think i have a crush... or something
am i the only one who watches those pc and mac commercials and wants to wrap the pc guy up and take him home?
i am? sweet. i hate competition.
now while i like the mac guy too cause he is funny and reminds me justin long (omg is he justin long?? that would be embarrassing)... he isn't as loveable as the pc guy!!
he cracks me up.. and i think he is so smooshy and sweet and funny.... like eeyore (yes from winnie the pooh). omg that is why i love him.... he is like eeyore without a real tail and kinda mopey but you love him so much and want him in your backyard and stuff.
so pc guy... if you're out there.. i totally love you and want you to come over and read a computer manual to me or something cause your adorableness is too much.
reall? is it just me?

i want off this vampire train
i watched the vampire diaries again last night. i really want to like this show. i mean, i really, really, really want to like this show. but um.. it sucks. and not in the cool vampirey way. i don't know.
it's just... not good.
and the main guy? that main vampire guy? i can't get past the fact that his head looks like it's about 5 times bigger than any normal person's head. or maybe it's just shaped weird? yeah, it's really square.. like frankensteins head. and of course now that i've said that, i'll probably end up meeting the guy at some point and then he'll find this blog and read it and call me and be like "i can't believe you said i look like frankenstein" and i'll be eating my words (again) and writing another blog post apologizing for calling mr big head a big head. you'd think i'd learn my lesson with things like this.
but dammit.. the show isn't good. i do love the main girl though. she is stunning. and how come her hair so damn shiney all the time? jealous. anyway, i don't think they have any chemistry and i wish the show had me on the edge of my seat, but.... it doesn't.
are this books this craptastic? did you even know there were books?
anyway, when the hell is lost back on??? and thank the gods above for gossip girl. i love the hell out of that scandelous show.
it's just... not good.

10 years later
i can't believe it's been 10 years since the shootings at columbine. 10 years since i was at my work gym watching it all unfold on tv's with my girfriend and co-worker meg. 10 years since we were wondering why the hell all the kids were coming out of that school with their shirts off. 10 years since we learned that their shirts were off because they were trying to stop their teacher, dave sanders, from dying.
columbine wrecked me.
i knew no one from the school. no one from the area. but that entire scene horrified me in ways that i still can't comprehend. it made me feel things i had no business feeling.
i was completely consumed. i couldn't stop reading about it. watching it on the television. researching it online. i wanted to know about all the victims. everyone left behind- littleton's tragedy became my own. their grief, was mine. i cried with them. cried for them. but mostly, i just cried.
i get like that sometimes. feel things so deeply and with so much intensity. sometimes i think i'm not normal. i don't get like this with everything. not every single school shooting affects me the same way. not every single tragedy rips me to the core. but some do.
and columbine did. it always has. even now, 10 years later, talks of it stops me in my tracks. i hope everyone has found some sort of peace in these past 10 years (gosh, has it really been ten years?). some sort of happiness, hope and love. and to those who were lost that day... i will never forget you.

dear HGTV dream home winner
hi there winner of the house you most likely cannot even afford to live in! i'm ster! can i ask you something? a small favor really... when you get your house and you look around at all the stuff, do you think you could go ahead and part ways with a few small things? i promise you won't miss em. and i want them baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. and i'd be really grateful! i mean, i'd go buy them myself, but they're fucking $120 bucks each at ethan allen. and well, while i really like them and really want them and stuff..... i can't justify spending 120 bucks for ONE (plus, i want way more than just one).
that's right. my big fuss is over candle holders. i can't help it! i think they're so pretty and i love them and i want them. and well, look at your new house and all the new amazing things you got that came with it (don't look at your tax bill, don't look at your tax bill).
so i'll just wait here for your okay to come fetch my new candle holders. just go ahead and post in the comments when you want to invite me over. i'll be there in a jif. and thanks, you're really swell.
your new bathroom? it has like 6 of them! SIX!!! you don't need 6 of those things. hell, you don't even need one. but me? i need em all! okay fine, i want them all. but really, i'll settle for four. see how reasonable i am? i'm such a good compromiser.
i suppose i should show you what is it that i want from you, eh? ok! well it's these.
so i'll just wait here for your okay to come fetch my new candle holders. just go ahead and post in the comments when you want to invite me over. i'll be there in a jif. and thanks, you're really swell.

let's talk HGTV's dream house
i love hgtv.. ever since we bought a house that needs a shitload of work done to it, i really love hgtv. but this whole hgtv dream house giveaway thing... i don't get it.
i mean, i GET it.. like i understand what they're doing and stuff... BUT I DON'T GET WHY THEY WOULD DO THIS TO SOMEONE?!?! they build this incredible house, with these amazing rooms and unbelievable decor, etc. and you can enter to win the house. sounds awesome and incredible right?!?
let's break it down for you. this house is in california. it's probably valued at close to $2 million dollars. do you have any idea how much the property taxes alone on that house would cost you? probably anywhere between $20 and $30 THOUSAND dollars a year. who can afford that? i mean, i assume that the people who enter the contest hoping to win the house are pretty much run of the mill, everyday kinds of people. not the type of people who could afford 20 grand a year in taxes alone.
so i don't understand AT ALL why hgtv does this? the person who wins this house is in for a world of financial hurt. especially in this economy. so why are they doing it? why would they give something like this away to someone? the basic idea of this whole contest is really generous and giving. you know, build an incredible house and give it away to one lucky person. but in my opinion, that "luck" will quickly turn bad if they end up stuck with a home they can't possibly afford to live in, let alone keep. has anyone who has won one of these homes in the past ever been able to keep it?!??! cause i'd like to know.

i am SO proud!
so freaking proud to be an american today!
i am SO excited and it seriously makes my heart smile that i live in a nation that would elect a black man to lead and run our country. not only did we elect this man- we OVERWHELMINGLY elected this man! that is exciting! and SO amazing! and so heartwarming!!! and it seriously makes me proud. proud of what this nation has become. proud that we can accept someone and believe in them to be our leader, regardless of their color.
we've come a long way america. a long way. we still have far to go, but this is a beautiful step. a beautiful, amazing, wonderful step.

let's nerd out together, shall we?
i don't know about you, but i'm pretty excited for the star wars clone wars cartoon series tonight!!!!!
i know this is probably the nerdiest post i've ever written, but i'm cool with that. tonight at 9pm you can probably guarantee that i'll be on my couch watching cartoon network. okay actually, that's a lie. boyfriend is out of town and blake is with his dad, so really- i won't be on my couch watching the show. but i am dvr'ing it! and then that way i can watch it with blake when he gets home! and then you can probably guarantee that every friday night i do have blake, we'll be on the couch watching the show!
listen, if you hated the movie, i promise you that the show is 100 times better. i promise you that this show is unlike anything you've ever seen cartoon-wise on television. this is no jimmy neutron (although i loved that little guy)... this is no spongebob.. i totally think of this show more along the lines of how i felt about alias (remember that show on ABC). i felt like alias was like a total kick ass action movie squeezed into an hour each week. i think clone wars is like that. it's a mini movie each week! and i can't wait!!!!!
what about you? your kids? your husband? lol

she makes me want to physically harm my television
dude. i'll admit it. the hills is kind of awesome (even if it's totally fake).
but heidi... aka, dipshit.... what the hell has she done to her face? between the funky looking chin, the nose job, the collagen or whatever is in her top lip (and probably her teeth too, but i can't tell)- her face freaks me out. i almost have to close my eyes, or turn away everytime she comes onto my 56 inch tv screen (it's the one time you'll hear me thanking the goddess that mtv does not come in hi def). i'm not kidding. it's not one of those face jobs where it's so bad you can't turn away and stare in amazement. it's one where i'm almost fucking horrified to look at her. she is just a couple plastic surgeries away from looking like the cat lady. seriously. i can see it now.
someone needs to stop her. if i run into her in LA tomorrow, i'll tell her myself. could you imagine? "dude, you have got to stop messing with your face man. it's freaking me out. i mean, scaring spencer is one thing. i'd want to scare him the hell out of my life too- but everyone else? why do we have to suffer? i'm just trying to watch the damn show, but everytime you come on the screen i want to throw something at it. and that just aint right. cause dude, my tv is like super awesome and it doesn't deserve to have shit thrown at it. but you on the other hand... so there you have it. my thoughts from the hills season 4 premiere tonight. nothing but heidi's jacked up face. i'm sure this is what nightmares are made of.
but heidi... aka, dipshit.... what the hell has she done to her face? between the funky looking chin, the nose job, the collagen or whatever is in her top lip (and probably her teeth too, but i can't tell)- her face freaks me out. i almost have to close my eyes, or turn away everytime she comes onto my 56 inch tv screen (it's the one time you'll hear me thanking the goddess that mtv does not come in hi def). i'm not kidding. it's not one of those face jobs where it's so bad you can't turn away and stare in amazement. it's one where i'm almost fucking horrified to look at her. she is just a couple plastic surgeries away from looking like the cat lady. seriously. i can see it now.
someone needs to stop her. if i run into her in LA tomorrow, i'll tell her myself. could you imagine? "dude, you have got to stop messing with your face man. it's freaking me out. i mean, scaring spencer is one thing. i'd want to scare him the hell out of my life too- but everyone else? why do we have to suffer? i'm just trying to watch the damn show, but everytime you come on the screen i want to throw something at it. and that just aint right. cause dude, my tv is like super awesome and it doesn't deserve to have shit thrown at it. but you on the other hand... 8 reasons why i love gossip girl
- it's not the oc, laguna beach, or anything so cal related
- it is so deliciously scandelous that i can barely contain myself
- chuck is such a perfect asshole, i can't imagine anyone else in the world playing that part better than he does
- and even though blair is a complete bitch to people, you end up feeling bad for her when someone does her wrong (even if the bad feeling only lasts a couple seconds)
- dan & sareana's relationship is far more mature than most couples i know (aka, great writing!!!!!)
- i don't even care who gossip girl "really" is, i just like her devious scoop
- the writing. i mean, come on- no high school guy would ever come up with the line "you're like one of my dad's arabians.. riden hard and then put away all wet." or at least they'd never have the balls to say it. out loud. to the person's face. have i mentioned how i love this show?!?!
- because they actually let the couple you wanted to get together, get together. and stay together. happily. at least for now. i will be so pissed when they start fucking with the D & S storyline in a bad way. you hear me josh schwartz?
xoxo.. jennster
(ps, i have always written xoxo when i sign my name. ask anyone. gg should copyright me everytime they say it)

my first and last grey's suck-atomy post
am i the only female on the face of the earth that just thinks this show has gone to the crapper?
i remember why i loved the show in its first season.... the characters were FUNNY and charming, and the show felt like it was more about their relationship, than it was about doctor stuff. but as the seasons have gone on, it's definitely gotten more "doctorey" and less outside the hospital. and i think that sucks. because if i want to watch a show about all sorts of patients and surgeries, then i'll watch ER. what made this show so great was that the doctor stuff was never really the focus. the relationships and interaction between the main characters were the focus.
moving on. i loathe meredith. and all i kept thinking while i watched the season premiere was, "who the FUCK put that color lipstick on her no lips???" they should be fired. but back to hating meredith. i wish she would have died last season. she's so worthless. all she does is complain and whine. ALL.THE.TIME. i hate it. she brings me down, man. she's like this ball of worthless, negative, woe is me, energy. i get exhausted just trying to find reasons to like her.
and then there's izzy. i loved her spunk and i LOVED her love story with denny. that was truly great. but don't get me all invested in her "love" for the guy who dies, to have to turn around and suddenly be completely and totally in love with george?!?!!! GEORGE? give me a fucking break. how unrealistic is that? completely. and i cannot be the only one who thinks that the twosome of "gizzy" is the biggest load of crap. i'm more mad that she's just over denny like that. omg, i think i truly have issues with people getting over loved ones who die. seriously. but i think in a way i feel cheated as a viewer. i was invested in her loving denny. i felt her pain when he died and she couldn't get off the bathroom floor. that was so heartbreakingly realistic to me. but then she's over it. and she's in love with george. and she's always been in love with george. and it just makes everything a freaking joke. not to mention the fact that her constant rants are annoying. now izzy is the smart, thoughtful, and inspirational one? most of the time i just want to smack her.
alex loving that stupid, lying, hospital girl is lame. LAME. he doesn't love her and i don't buy it that he does. not even for a second.
george leaving callie (next week or whenever) and callie turning from a super likeable and understandable character, to a weak and bitchy one sucks.
i honestly don't know why i even watch this show?!?! maybe i keep thinking it will get better. or the characters will change BACK to being likeable again... or they'll get new writers who kill off meredith and everyone else who sucks in one big hospital explosion! oh wait, they already did that.. but stupid head meredith didn't die. dammit.
at least christina and bailey are still the same. their characters i think are the only ones who have remained fairly consistant. for now...
